Handmade Sketchbook with Fabriano Artistico Watercolour Paper (28x19cm)
**NEXT SHIPPING DATE: 26 APRIL**
I designed this hand-made, hardback sketchbook - with Fabriano Artistico 300gm, extra white, hot press watercolour paper - especially for artists, after not being able to find one for myself.
The paper is heavyweight, mould-made and 100% cotton - far superior to the cheap machine-made, pulp-based paper found in most sketchbooks. It is stable and hardwearing, able to take significant physical distress, has a refined surface texture, tolerates extensive wetting, resists heavy warping and is usable on both sides.
The hot press surface is incredibly versatile - smooth enough for ink, but with just enough texture for charcoal, and is suitable for highly detailed painting in watercolour, ink, gouache and acrylic, and oils too, if primed first.
It opens flat, so you can work across both pages as a single piece. The hardback cover is made from 2.5mm board and tough, wipeable black buckram.
The binding is kettle stitched, glued three times and double reinforced with linen tape and mull, so it is extremely strong and hard-wearing. At the same time, the conservation-grade glue is reversible, so the book can be deconstructed if necessary.
Each book is completely hand-made by me, in my studio in East London. You can watch an extensive video about how I make them on my blog.
Contains 40 pages / 80 sides, plus end papers. Paper size is 14(h) x 19(w) cm. It may be deckled on all sides or deckled on three sides with one straight edge. Please note that some pages contain the paper manufacturer’s watermark.
I also make custom books too - if you need a specific size, cover or paper please get in touch.
